Hope Has a Home
Here, we often share a story from one of our staff members or Nicole. We talk about ways we can change our world and offer suggestions for helping you do that as well amidst the daily grind. This month, Nicole recounts our recent visit to the Minneapolis Hope Lodge.
 Hope has a home.
We’d heard about a special place in Minneapolis called “The Hope Lodge” and we wanted to see it for ourselves. There are 22 of these lodges across the country, sponsored by The American Cancer Society. At a Hope Lodge people who are in active treatment for cancer can stay, along with a caregiver, free of charge. Michelle and I toured this hope-filled place and were so touched by all that we saw—a beautiful reception room with original artwork, several television lounges (complete with a wii playing area) kitchens, a library… all for the residents. They can gather for support groups, speakers, bingo games and even movie nights.
What an incredible support for people going through the toughest days of their lives. Along with our admiration and prayers, we sent them a care package of paper goods and supplies to help support them as they support others.
If you have cancer and live far away from a hospital… we encourage you to look for a Lodge in your area and let them help you make hope your home.
